Carissa (she/her/hers) has nearly 20 years experience as a speech-language pathologist specializing in voice, swallowing, and upper airway therapy at the Emory Voice Center and the Evelyn Trammell Institute for Voice and Swallowing. Carissa has pursued advanced training in treatment approaches for Parkinson's, gender expression for TGD (transgender and gender diverse) individuals, instrumental breath conditioning, and accent modification. She is an anti-racist and an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and the TGD community specifically. She has presented at the national and international level on the subjects of incorporating technology in voice therapy, adherence, group therapy, treatment of muscle tension dysphonia, mindfulness and meditation. Outside work, she is a loving wife and mother, a public school volunteer, a singer with the Michael O'Neal Singers and Kaleidoscope ensemble, an enthusiastic amateur home chef and baker, an avid reader, and a certified and registered yoga teacher.
